  • Rolfing, or Rolfing Structural Integration, is a form of bodywork that emphasizes the alignment of the body's connective tissue, or fascia, to improve posture, relieve pain, and enhance movement efficiency.

  • Unlike massage, which often focuses on muscle relaxation and temporary relief, Rolfing aims for long-term structural changes. It's more focused on improving the body's overall balance in relation to gravity.

In 1979, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted exclusive service mark rights for the term "ROLFING®" to The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration (“DIRI”), distinguishing ROLFING® Structural Integration from all other forms of structural integration. DIRI is the sole owner of the trademark "ROLFING®", the brand, and all its derivatives.

  • During a session, you can expect a combination of applied pressure and guided movement to address tissue restrictions. You'll participate actively through movement and feedback, and you may be standing, sitting, or lying down.

  • A typical session lasts about 75 minutes, with the Ten-Series progressing over ten such sessions, each targeting different areas and aspects of the body's structure and movement.

  • Some people may experience discomfort during Rolfing as fascial restrictions are addressed, but a Rolfer works within each person's comfort threshold. Communication with your Rolfer is key to managing any discomfort.

  • Individuals of all ages and walks of life can benefit from Rolfing, including those with chronic pain, athletes seeking improved performance, or anyone looking to improve their overall posture and well-being.

  • The goal of the Ten-Series is to bring the entire body into greater alignment. Results often include improved posture, increased range of motion, reduction in pain, and an enhanced sense of body awareness.

  • The changes from Rolfing are intended to be long-lasting. The Ten-Series provides a re-education of body patterns and movements that can create sustained improvements in structure and function.

  • Yes, Rolfing can be adapted for children to support their growth and help alleviate issues from common falls or the rigors of sports and play. Sessions for children are modified to be age-appropriate and shorter.
